Privacy Policy

What information we collect:

We gather personal and non-personal information from individuals using our Services. Personal Data refers to data containing personal identifiers such as name, email address, physical address, phone number, IP address, device identifier, or any data that can reasonably be linked to an individual. It may also include demographic information, geolocation data, educational information, or commercial information as explained below.

To utilize ConnectEngi, you are required to have an account. You can create an account as a student seeking job opportunities or career guidance, an employer looking for talented individuals, a career center or school employee, or as an invited mentor.

Student or alumni data: When you create a Student or Alumni Account, update your profile, respond to questions or surveys on our website, or engage with our Site, we receive personal information from our Partner Universities and other third-party data sources.

From University Partners: Our University Partners share information about their students with us to facilitate the services they use for managing their career centers. Each University Partner determines what information to share, which may include names, mailing and email addresses, majors, or GPAs. If the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) applies to the shared data, it is stored, used, and shared in compliance with the statute.

From you, your account, and your profile: You have the option to provide additional information such as an updated email address, phone number, work experience, resume, transcript, and responses to questions about your interests and activities. This information is covered by our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. You can share this information by updating your profile, uploading documents containing personal information, or responding to questions or surveys (e.g., the First Destination Survey) sent to you via email or presented on the Services. Your phone number will not be used to send any commercial or marketing messages.

From employer reviews: Any personal information included in employer reviews you submit is collected by ConnectEngi, even if the review is not published or made public.

From communications, transcripts, or recordings: If you choose to participate in video or audio meetings, calls, webinars, or communicate with other users through video, audio, or messaging within the ConnectEngi Service (referred to as "ConnectEngi Communications"), we receive and store personal information. By engaging in ConnectEngi Communications, you give consent for ConnectEngi to store the content and recordings of such communications. You will receive a notification when audio or video recording is enabled, and if you do not consent to being recorded, you should exit the meeting or webinar. If we utilize a third-party video and/or communications service provider for ConnectEngi Communications, they are restricted from using your personal information or the communication content for any purpose other than providing the service to us.

From third parties: We may obtain additional information about you from other educational institutions, alumni associations, career counseling organizations, or other sources.

Usage and log data: When you visit the Site, we log and retain your IP address and technical information about your visit, such as browser type and your interactions with the Site (referred to as "Usage Data"). Your IP address helps us determine your general location.

Mobile data: When you use the ConnectEngi mobile app, we collect analytical information about your device, including IP address, operating system version, and clickstream data.

Precise location data: For specific features, we offer users the option to provide precise location data (GPS data) by opting in. This information is only used to enable those features, such as displaying your precise location on a map during a career fair. We do not share precise location data with third parties, nor do we combine it with personal information for advertising purposes.

When Employers create a ConnectEngi Employer Account, we ask for contact details such as email address and phone number. This information serves as a means of communication with Universities and administrative staff and is displayed on your public profile. Rest assured, we will not utilize your phone number to send any commercial or marketing messages unrelated to your usage of ConnectEngi Services without obtaining your explicit consent.

How we use your personal data:

We utilize, handle, and store your Personal Data with the aim of providing the ConnectEngi Service and maximizing opportunities to connect you with engineering professionals. This includes:

  1. Providing services that enable you to schedule appointments with career center professionals or register for career fairs and other events.

  2. Sending job opportunities and communications from potential employers via email, according to your account settings and communication preferences.

  3. Allowing you to decide whether your profile is public or private, giving potential employers or others the ability to find you or not.

  4. Enabling communication between you and employers through the ConnectEngi Service, which includes messaging, audio and video conferencing, and webinars.

  5. Allowing you to share reviews and other content related to employers and employment experiences.

  6. Personalizing the Service by offering employer suggestions based on the information in your resume, the demographic data you provide, or recommending students with public profiles to employers based on search criteria.

  7. Contacting you regarding additional ConnectEngi or Partner services that may be of interest to you, unless you choose to opt-out (refer to "How to Opt-Out of Email Communications").

  8. Conducting research to discover new ways to enhance the ConnectEngi Service.

  9. Ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) when using data protected by FERPA.

When we may share your personal data:

We will share your personal data only in the following circumstances:

  1. With your consent: You may choose to make your profile public, allowing us to share it with employers through the Services. When you apply for a job, we will share your profile information, resume, and transcript with the chosen employers. It is mandatory for employers to use ConnectEngi data solely for employment services and to protect any personal data they receive. If your account is associated with a University Partner, your University will have access to and be able to view the personal data you upload, even if your account is set to "private." University Partners are obligated to safeguard any personal data they receive. You also have the option to make your profile public to specific audiences, aiding the growth of your professional brand and network. When publishing an employer review or related content, you can choose to include your name and profile alongside the content publicly. Alternatively, you may post the content without directly identifying information (i.e., using a pseudonym). Please note that even when posting pseudonymously, your identity may be inferred from the content, and we share the identities of both public and pseudonymous content with Universities.

  2. With contracted vendors: We may share personal data with vendors who provide us with services such as cloud services, ConnectEngi Communications (telecommunications services related to ConnectEngi), system maintenance, order fulfillment, email management, and credit card processing. These vendors are contractually obligated to protect any personal data they receive from us.

  3. With law enforcement bodies: If we reasonably believe that disclosure is necessary to comply with applicable laws, regulations, valid legal processes (e.g., subpoenas or warrants served on us), governmental or regulatory requests, enforce our Terms of Service, protect the security or integrity of the ConnectEngi Service, or safeguard the rights, property, or safety of ConnectEngi, its employees, users, or others, we may share relevant data with law enforcement bodies. If we are required to release your data, we will make every effort to notify you in advance via email, unless prohibited by law.

  4. With professional services and potential purchasers/investors: In the event of a sale, merger, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or reorganization of our company, we may share personal data with professional services, potential purchasers, or investors. If a different entity receives your personal data, we will notify you, and the promises outlined in this Privacy Policy will apply to your data as it is transferred to the new entity.

When we use and share non-personal data:

Non-personal data refers to data that, on its own, cannot be reasonably linked back to you or data that is combined with other information in a manner that cannot reasonably identify you. We utilize and disclose your non-personal, de-identified, or aggregated data in various ways to assist our Partners and the general public in comprehending trends within the job-seeking market. This is achieved through analytics reports, statistics, metrics, and guides. For instance, we analyze:

  1. The percentage of students from specific colleges who are employed in particular geographic areas.

  2. The compatibility between certain majors or extracurricular activities and an employer's hiring patterns.

  3. The comparison of employers based on the number of applicants they receive from different colleges.

Please be aware that we take reasonable precautions but cannot provide an absolute guarantee against security breaches.

Additionally, you can request the deletion of your personal information from ConnectEngi. However, it's important to note that we may be obligated to retain certain data about you as a service provider to your college or university. This means that if they resend us your data for processing, we will retain it unless they specifically request its deletion. To request deactivation or deletion, please send a message to privacy@joinConnectEngi.com or contact your University and request them to delete your information.

We do not purposefully gather information from individuals under the age of 13. If you believe that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under the age of 13, please promptly notify us using this form, and we will take reasonable steps to remove that information from our systems.

ConnectEngi does not collect or utilize any of the payment information provided during any transactions. If an employer encounters any issues or concerns related to the payment acceptance process, they should directly contact ConnectEngi directly. ConnectEngi holds no responsibility or liability for payment transactions.
